#mixedmessages #neverforgetgabby

This is a post that showed up on Facebook. Is it accurate? Is it sending the right message?

I think this is exactly correct. He appears to be the normal one. To him it is a game and he is winning if anyone buys his charade. Gabby had been gaslit so many times, he had been physical with her just prior to when this photo was taken and although we have heard part of what was said, physical violence is grossly under-reported. She was in a crisis state when she was at the police station and they should never have been allowed to leave together.

I am not pointing fingers. But, who suffers the most by professionals being under-prepared for scenarios just like this? Clearly the victim.

I have actually heard of bartenders passing notes to potential victims and receiving a signal for help from the patron. But that is individuals taking it upon themselves to reach out. Not as an industry. Think of how many people abused women come in contact with that could be a source of help for them. An escape route.

What do you think? Is this accurate? What should have happened? What should happen in the future?
